🌍 Born to Travel (and Review)
Back in 2000, Stephen Kaufer and his crew weren’t looking to start a travel empire—they just wanted real reviews that weren’t glossy brochures in disguise. With backing from Flagship Ventures and the Bollard Group, they launched Tripadvisor. The idea was simple but radical: trust travelers, not marketing slogans. And it worked. Millions turned to Tripadvisor for unfiltered reviews, reshaping how trips were planned and giving power back to everyday travelers.
🦉A New Chapter with Ollie
Fast-forward 25 years, and Tripadvisor isn’t just a sidekick—it’s the main character in travel planning. With over a billion reviews, it’s still the go-to source before clicking “book now.” But the digital world has shifted. Algorithms, influencers, and TikTok travel hacks fight for attention. So Tripadvisor had to ask itself the hard question: how do you stay relevant when attention spans are shrinking faster than airline legroom?
To answer that, Tripadvisor marked its 25th anniversary by teaming up with Koto Studio for a rebrand. The star of the show? Ollie the owl—refreshed to be freer, friendlier, and more expressive. The new look comes with a brighter “Trip Green” palette, warmer tones, and a custom typeface that feels modern yet approachable.
The rebrand brings Tripadvisor back to what makes it special: its community. Because the best travel tips don’t come from an algorithm—they come from someone who’s been there, done that, and left a review about it.
As Tripadvisor steps into its next chapter, Ollie is still perched—watching, guiding, and ready for the journeys ahead.
